Hi! I’m Dwayne, and my wife Rachel and I run Big Bones Maine Coons and Newfies here in Shermans Dale, Pennsylvania — a quiet, rural spot tucked into the rolling hills of south-central PA. We’ve loved big, gentle animals for as long as we can remember, and we’re finally living the dream of raising both Newfoundlands and Maine Coons — two of the kindest, most good-natured breeds on the planet.

Around here, when we say our puppies and kittens are raised in the house, we really mean it. They’re in the kitchen, the dining room, and often underfoot (usually right where we’re trying to walk). Between the two of us, our five kids, and a few other four-legged helpers — including a Golden Retriever and a Saint Bernard — our babies get constant love, handling, and socialization. It’s chaotic, hilarious, slightly messy, and absolutely wonderful.

Our Newfies, Maine Coons, and even our “standard-issue” rescue cats are part of the family. We don’t “retire” our breeding animals to new homes — they stay with us for life, lounging on couches, sitting on kitchen counters, mentoring the younger ones, and occasionally stealing our (my) spot in bed. We’ve wanted to do this for years, and we feel truly blessed to live this life surrounded by fur, drool, purrs, and barks.

We take a science-based approach to breeding because love and good looks aren’t enough — health comes first. All of our breeding animals are genetically screened and clear of known hereditary issues, and we plan each pairing carefully to promote healthy, well-balanced, long-lived companions. And friendly — yes, friendly is what we’re going for. We’re proud to raise animals who are not only beautiful and well-socialized but also represent the best of their breeds — inside and out.

At the end of the day, our goal is simple: to connect these amazing puppies and kittens with great families who will love them as much as we do.
