We understand that life can change in unexpected ways. If, for any reason, you’re no longer able to keep your Newfoundland or Maine Coon, we ask that you return them to us.
Our goal is to ensure that every dog or kitten we’ve bred always has a safe, loving home. We’ll gladly take the animal back at any age and for any reason—no questions. We’ll keep them ourselves or find them a wonderful new home.
This helps us make sure our babies never end up in shelters or unsafe situations, and it gives you peace of mind knowing your Newfie or Maine Coon will always be cared for.
What is the 3-3-3 Rule? For New Puppy and Kitten Owners
🐾The 3–3–3 Rule for Puppies and Kittens🐾
Bringing home a new puppy or kitten is exciting — but it can also be overwhelming for them! The 3–3–3 Rule is a simple way to understand what your puppy or kitten might be feeling as they settle into their new home
⭐First 3 Days:
Your puppy or kitten is likely feeling nervous and unsure. They may not eat much, they might sleep a lot, or even seem shy. Everything is new — sights, sounds, smells, people, routines! Be patient and give them space to adjust 🐕
✨First 3 Weeks:
Your new friend is starting to feel more comfortable. Their true personality begins to shine through. You might see more confidence, curiosity, and playfulness — along with testing a few boundaries! This is a great time to start gentle training and bonding routines 🐶
🏠First 3 Months:
They feel at home! They’ve learned the household routine, bonded with their family, and have laid a foundation. With consistency, training, and love, this is when lifelong habits really take root 🫶
🦴Remember: every puppy or kitten adjusts at their own pace — some take longer, some shorter — but your patience and understanding make all the difference. Take good care of that baby; you're the whole world to them 🦴
🐾 Getting Your Home Ready for a Newfoundland Puppy!
Bringing home a Newfie? Get ready for big love, big paws, and a little bit (ok, maybe a lot) of drool! Here’s how to get your house (and heart) ready for your gentle giant in training:
1. Puppy-Proof the Place
Think “toddler with teeth.” Tuck away cords, shoes, and anything chewable. Get down on the floor and think like a puppy. What would I get into if I was a chunky Newfie in a new place? Baby gates might be your new best friends!
🚫 A Note About Stairs:
Newfie puppies’ joints are growing fast and need protecting! Avoid letting your pup climb or go down stairs alone. Carry them up and down as long as you’re physically able—it’s worth the workout to keep those hips and elbows healthy
2. Make a Cozy Corner
Your pup will need a safe spot to nap and learn about their new life . A soft bed, a couple of toys, and a bowl of water make a perfect little den. If you’re going to crate-train, that would be another option
3. Stock Up on the Basics
XXL food and water bowls (they’ll grow fast!)
A sturdy leash and collar/harness
Large-breed puppy food (we use Pure Balance Pro+ Chicken and Brown Rice Large Breed Puppy Food). We will send some home with you to aid in transitioning your Newfie to the brand of food you’ll be feeding them
Towels—for drool, splashes, and general Newfie chaos 🐾
4. Get Your Groom On
That gorgeous coat takes work! Grab a good brush and start grooming early. Make it part of your bonding time—you’ll both enjoy it
👉 While you’re at it, gently handle your puppy’s ears, feet, tail, and mouth every day. Their entire body, really. This helps them get used to being touched all over so vet visits, nail trims, and grooming sessions are a breeze later on
5. Make Room for Big Love
Newfies don’t understand the concept of “personal space.” Make sure there’s room to sprawl, and clear a path for that giant wagging tail!
6. Water Lovers Unite!
If you’ve got a pool, pond, or lake nearby, remember—most Newfies are born swimmers. Always supervise, and expect a few surprise splashes!
7. Vet Visit = Best Start
Book your first vet appointment after their 13-week birthday. They had their six-week shots at seven weeks so you’ll want to do their 12-week shots at 13 weeks
✨ Get ready—your Newfoundland puppy will bring laughter, love, and probably a few soggy hugs. Welcome to the Newfie family! 💕
